3 Years and Counting…

May 9th marked the 3rd year on ME Coffee’s calender, a great day celebrated by many! We decided to do something a little different and threw our prices out the window for the day – each person could pay what they liked, the NZ Herald liked the story and here’s what followed NZHerald Article

A 3rd year present from me to ME

With no obligation or judgement we sincerely, gratefully took any price offered. It was a day of giving and very enjoyable too, some gave more to us, some we gave more to. It was a celebratory day for our little corner of the earth here in Auckland Central.

Thank you all, here’s to another 3 years!

Barista Championships

This years Huhtamaki New Zealand Barista Championship was held in Wellington over Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the Michael Fowler Centre, Wellington.

Many showed interest with the masses increasing day on day, until the finals on Sunday – standing room only.

ME Coffee were down in Wellington to support of some the nations best baristas and help promote the initiation of the, soon to be launched, New Zealand Barista Guild. It was a great weekend and many a coffee was both made and consumed with some real beauts shining through – of course Merito Coffee was in that line-up, enough said!

The championships are always a good time to reflect and grow as the environment gives way to new ideas and perspectives within our changing coffee scene. There have been some amazing coffees from Ethiopia and El Salvador right through to Australia presented this weekend, and each one has a magnificent story to tell.

A BIG congratulations to Aymon McQuade, Wellington, who is this years champion, along with the other finalists;

  • Chloe Zhou, Christchurch
  • Nick Clark, Wellington
  • Brendon Neilson, Auckland
  • Hideyuki Kono, Christchurch
  • Claris Jones-White, Nelson

ME Coffee 2012

We are back and ready to brew you some fine coffees from around the globe.

Hario Coffee Syphon

In addition, we will be getting in some exciting “Remarkable Origins” as well as profiling some of our more common origins a little more. Just ask us what is in our second grinder and we will be happy to help.

All the best for a great 2012!

Keep Cups are back…

After massive request for the return of our ME Coffee KeepCups we are proud to tell you all that they are coming back. Hitting the shores this July, be sure to get yours quick.

Working together with KeepCup we have created our own designed ME cups. A little about the KeepCup philosophy.

“Most disposable paper cups are not recyclable.

The paper cup is made from a composite of materials: kraft bleached paper sprayed with a polyethylene coating. Paper cups are often impregnated with toxic dyes which make them difficult to recycle. The plastic lining in disposable paper cups means they are not recyclable.

In arid regions like Australia, biodegradation of a paper cup can take 50 years or more.

It’s not just the cup and lid that go into landfill. On average, each disposable cup contains 5% of the raw materials involved in the process of making and delivering it.

It is a choice. We can destroy fewer trees and reduce landfill, CO2 and energy output.

Small acts can make a big difference – for better and for worse. The environmental impact of all single use items is great. Through good design and a little effort we can easily incorporate reuse into our daily routine”

Coffee Beans for Home and Office

Our beans are available ground or whole in store. You can always trust the freshness of this coffee as we use the exact beans in store also.

While we are happy to grind this for you we do recommend getting your hands on a tidy little grinder as this lets you experience the coffee at its best.

Available in 250g, 500g and 1kg.

Our Coffee
